The Sumi-Scape Series

Sumi-Scape are very detailed ink drawings made line by line using a fine haired brush and the rhythm of my breathing.  Being mindful of my respiration during the process focuses concentration and awareness.  By adjusting the pressure of the brush on the paper I create a thin light line during an inhalation and a thicker, darker line during an exhalation. The resulting rhythms and patterns are self -generating.  

Works are framed.  Medium: sumi-ink and paper.  Dimension from 5-1/2” x 5-1/2” up to 23” x 29”,  2008-2009
