Handmade Paper

The Stratum sculptures are constructed by adding a clay slurry to the paper-pulp before forming the sheets.  I collected the clay from different locations in and around Santa Fe.  Medium: cotton paper, clay and wax. Dimensions: 12” x 12” x 12” each,  2011

The Floating Pellicule  wall-installation elements are made from kozo paper following a centuries old tradition.  The sheets are formed, dried, and then treated with kakishibu (fermented persimmon juice from Japan).  Medium: kozo paper, kakishibu and bees wax.  Dimensions: 108" x 30" x 2",  2012
